Heat Pumps - Are you doing it wrong in summer? - 7th Dec 2017

Heat Pumps - Are you doing it wrong in summer? With the heat we are experiencing, especially at night, we, like many others, turn the heat pump on, lower the temperature and make sure the little snow flake is showing. Then we (well, I do) stand in front of the cooling blast of air, singing the praises of the wonders of modern technolgy.

It seems we are doing it wrong. This way makes the unit work overtime, sucking up power and making your electricity bill sky-rocket. There is another setting called "DRY" which is shown by a water droplet on the remote. This acts as a dehumidifier, and takes the moisture out of the air, sending the dry air back in to the room, which lowers the temperature and makes it more comfortable.
